PGA National

The community covers about 2,340 acres and holds roughly 5,000 homes spread across more than 40 named neighborhoods. Housing runs the full range: low-rise condominiums, townhomes and golf villas, single-family homes on golf and lake frontage, and large custom estates. Floor plans start at around 500 square feet in the one-bedroom condominiums of Cypress Point and reach beyond 7,000 square feet in estate neighborhoods such as Marlwood Estates, where six- and seven-bedroom homes are common. Most of PGA National was built between the early 1980s and the 2000s, so buyers will find both original-condition homes and extensively renovated ones within the same street.

Golf at PGA National

Golf is the organizing idea here. The resort and club share six courses totaling 99 holes, five of them inside the gates.

The Champion Course is the headline. It opened in 1981 to a George and Tom Fazio design, was redesigned by Jack Nicklaus in 2014, and had all of its bunkers rebuilt or removed in a Nicklaus Design renovation completed in September 2022. It is home to the Bear Trap, the closing stretch of the par-3 15th, par-4 16th and par-3 17th named for Nicklaus’s Golden Bear nickname, and it hosts the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches each February. The Champion also hosted the 1983 Ryder Cup, the 1987 PGA Championship won by Larry Nelson, and the Senior PGA Championship every year from 1982 through 2000.

  • The Palmer — an Arnold Palmer design that opened as The General in the mid-1980s and was renamed for its architect after a 2006 renovation.
  • The Fazio — a George and Tom Fazio course originally named The Haig, later renovated by Tom Fazio II.
  • The Match — opened in 2021, a reimagining by Andy Staples, ASGCA, of the former Squire Course, routed and set up for match play.
  • The Staple — a nine-hole, par-3 short course built for quick rounds and beginning players.
  • The Estates — the one off-site course, on Bay Hill Drive in West Palm Beach about five miles from the community. Originally a 1984 Karl Litten design routed through native Florida vegetation and wildlife habitat, it has been completely redesigned by Davis Love III’s Love Golf Design.

These are resort and club courses rather than municipal ones. Confirm current play access and tee-time policies directly with the club or resort.

Amenities and Recreation

Racquet sports are PGA National’s second identity. The 33,000-square-foot Sports & Racquet Club has 16 Har-Tru tennis courts, 11 of them lighted for night play, 12 pickleball courts with six lighted, two lighted pop tennis courts, and a five-lane saltwater lap pool. The members club also lists five croquet lawns, which it describes as the largest croquet complex in the Western Hemisphere.

The resort completed a $100 million property-wide renovation in 2022 that reworked its dining venues, spa and guest rooms alongside the golf. Outside the club, all residents share the community’s walking trails and bike paths, lakes and preserve areas, neighborhood parks and playgrounds, and round-the-clock gate security. Access requirements for specific club, resort and association facilities vary — confirm them with the club and the property owners association before you buy.

Location, Shopping and Dining

PGA National sits along PGA Boulevard in the western half of Palm Beach Gardens. Directly across the boulevard is Mirasol Walk, a neighborhood center anchored by a Publix supermarket, with personal-care services and small shops alongside it — enough for everyday errands without leaving the immediate area.

A few miles east, PGA Boulevard becomes the region’s main retail and dining corridor. The Gardens Mall, Downtown Palm Beach Gardens and its CMX Cinemas Downtown at the Gardens 16 & IMAX, and the concentration of restaurants between Military Trail and U.S. 1 are all within about ten to fifteen minutes. Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center, part of the Palm Beach Health Network, is on Burns Road roughly ten minutes east, and Jupiter Medical Center is about twenty minutes north.

For commuting and travel, both I-95 and Florida’s Turnpike have interchanges within a couple of miles of the community’s entrances. The Atlantic beaches at Juno Beach and Singer Island are each about a twenty-minute drive east. President Donald J. Trump International Airport (DJT), formerly Palm Beach International Airport, is roughly 15 miles south, a 20- to 25-minute drive.

Schools Serving PGA National

PGA National is served by the School District of Palm Beach County. Addresses in the community are generally zoned to Timber Trace Elementary School (grades K–5), Watson B. Duncan Middle School (grades 6–8) and William T. Dwyer High School (grades 9–12). Dwyer offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme along with an Academy of Finance, a Culinary Arts Academy, a Construction Academy and an Early Childhood Teacher Education Academy. School boundaries are redrawn periodically, so verify the zoning for a specific address directly with the district before making a decision.

Private and parochial options are close by. The Benjamin School is a PK3–grade 12 independent day school with its lower and middle school campus in North Palm Beach and its upper school on Grandiflora Road in Palm Beach Gardens. St. Mark’s Episcopal School on Burns Road and Trinity Christian School of Palm Beach Gardens on North Military Trail both serve PK through grade 8, and The Weiss School, a PK–8 school for gifted students, is also in Palm Beach Gardens.

PGA National FAQs

What types of homes are available in PGA National homes for sale?

PGA National holds roughly 5,000 homes across more than 40 named neighborhoods, and the mix is unusually broad for a single community. Buyers can choose among low-rise condominiums, townhomes and golf villas, single-family homes on golf-course and lake lots, and custom estates. Sizes run from about 500 square feet in the one-bedroom condominiums of Cypress Point to more than 7,000 square feet in estate neighborhoods such as Marlwood Estates, where six- and seven-bedroom homes are common. Construction dates mostly span the early 1980s through the 2000s.

Is PGA National a gated community?

Yes. PGA National is a gated community with round-the-clock security at its entrances, and the individual neighborhoods inside it sit behind that perimeter. Gating also covers the community’s internal roads, walking trails and bike paths, which is part of why the community is popular with seasonal residents who leave homes empty for months at a time.

What public and private schools serve PGA National homes for sale?

Public school assignments for PGA National addresses are generally Timber Trace Elementary School (K–5), Watson B. Duncan Middle School (6–8) and William T. Dwyer High School (9–12). Dwyer runs an International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme plus academies in finance, culinary arts, construction and early childhood teacher education. Nearby private options include The Benjamin School (PK3–12, with its upper school in Palm Beach Gardens), St. Mark’s Episcopal School (PK–8), Trinity Christian School of Palm Beach Gardens (PK–8) and The Weiss School (PK–8). Confirm current zoning for any specific address with the School District of Palm Beach County, since boundaries change.

What golf courses are at PGA National?

The resort and club share six courses totaling 99 holes. Five are inside the community: the Champion Course, a George and Tom Fazio design redesigned by Jack Nicklaus in 2014 and home to the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches; The Palmer, by Arnold Palmer; The Fazio, originally The Haig; The Match, opened in 2021 as an Andy Staples reimagining of the former Squire Course; and The Staple, a nine-hole par-3 course. The sixth, The Estates, sits about five miles away in West Palm Beach and has been completely redesigned by Davis Love III’s Love Golf Design. These are resort and club courses, so check current play access with the club directly.
